Phil Magallanes - keyboards, musical director
A native New Yorker, Phil started playing piano at age four. He is the touring keyboardist with Al Di Meola and has worked with Arturo Sandoval, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Spyro Gyra, Rick Braun, Engelbert Humperdinck, Debbie Gibson and many others. Blessed with perfect pitch, Phil's incredible ears and uncompromising attention to detail as an arranger enable Show Biz Kids to deliver an unmatched level of authenticity in their performances of even the most complex Steely Dan material. At the same time, Phil is also an exciting soloist with chops to burn. His daring arrangements and fiery playing provide a fresh take on several Steely Dan classics, ensuring plenty of musical surprises throughout the show. |
Todd Plant - vocals
Tampa native, former US Navy Seabee. Has toured the USA & Europe, recorded dozens of CDs distributed worldwide, worked with former members of the Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Chicago, Firefall, and many others. Sang Hulk Hogan’s theme song “American Made”. Considered the most prolific tribute band vocalist around having worked with tributes to the Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Santana, the Police, U2, Michael Bublé, Chicago, as well as wedding/event, metal and country bands. Denise Moore - vocals
Denise Moore is an engaging jazz and blues songstress with a wide vocal range and a phenomenally accurate ear. This blue-eyed chanteuse is more than a percussionist and arranger, for she injects personal style into many of the great standards and classics as well as pop and soulful blues. She is deeply influenced by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles, but it is likely you will also hear Denise eloquently perform songs by recent chart-toppers like Diana Krall and Norah Jones. www.denisemoorejazz.com |
Kirsten Joyer - vocals
Kirsten Joyer is a sultry singer with a wide vocal range and eclectic repertoire. Her musical diversity allows her to sing music from any genre, from Billie Holiday to Journey. A Kansas native, Kirsten grew up in a musical family. It wasn't unusual for her family to circle the family piano while Dave Brubeck or Ramsey Lewis entertained them. A retired middle school principal and published author, Kirsten is now living her dream of singing and has been the lead vocalist for a number of bands in the Tampa Bay area. |
Peter Mongaya Hogsholm - guitar
Danish born guitarist Peter Mongaya is one of Tampa Bay’s in-demand guitarists and educators. Peter studied with Charlie Banacos, Ed Byrne, Mike Stern, Joe Pass, John Stowell and Fareed Haque. Recognized for his diversity, Peter has played guitar for Rick Derringer, Frank McComb, Chuck Loeb, Changing Keys featuring Chick Corea, Jeff Kashiwa, Richard Elliott, Warren Hill, Jack Wilkins, Chuck Owen's Surge, Rick Braun, Joe Piscopo (SNL), Paul Taylor, Alex Bugnon, Eric Darius, Four80 East, Marcus Anderson, Steve Cole, gospel artist BJ Putnam and many others. Currently, when Peter isn’t pickin’ and grinnin’ as a member of Show Biz Kids, Wahh World Fusion Band he is the head of the guitar department at Players School of Music, and is the proud owner of Musicology, a music school which goal "is to empower the musician within". |
Steve Boisen - bass
Steve Boisen has been performing throughout the Tampa Bay area for many years, playing both acoustic and electric bass with a wide variety of musical ensembles from jazz combos and big bands to symphony orchestras and popular music groups. A native of Long Island, New York, Steve studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music under scholarship before relocating to Florida. In addition to live performances, he is a frequent participant in recording sessions and his bass work can be heard on a variety of local, national and international releases. Steve Boisen has appeared at festivals and venues throughout the country and has performed and/or recorded with noted jazz artists such as Harry Allen, Ray Kennedy, Nate Najar, Chuck Redd, Dave Stryker, Bria Skonberg, Larry Camp, Buster Cooper, and Duduka da Fonseca. |
Luis Alicea - drums
Luis Alicea, known as the Golden Boy of the drums, earned this title with his meticulous hand crafted precision of playing drums in recording environments as well as live performances. As a professional drummer, percussionist, and producer, he continues to influence the drum world by bringing excellence and raising the standards of musicianship. Born and raised in Jersey City, he embarked on a journey that would soon prove promising and prosperous. Right from the beginning, the Golden Boy was sought out by big headliners such as Grammy winning artist FANIA ALL STARS, Richie Ray and Boby Cruz, and many others such as Al Di Meola and master percussionist Gumbi Ortiz. Luis is currently the drummer for world renowned guitarist Al Di Meola’s electric band. |
Kenny Anderson - sax
Saxophonist Kenny Anderson is originally born and bred in Dunedin, and made his way back to Tampa Bay by way of Nashville, Tennessee. A twenty-year road veteran, he has toured and recorded with an impressive list of artists such as Tom Jones, Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine, Jennifer Lopez, Arturo Sandoval, Larry Carlton, and Bobby Caldwell to name a few. Described in a Cleveland, Ohio review as a player of "guts and grease", he brings some old-school fire to an already fantastic group of musicians. |
Manzell Bledsoe - sax
P. Manzell Bledsoe discovered and fell in love with music at an early age. Growing up in Las Vegas, NV his earliest childhood memories were scored to a soundtrack of Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and Soul music. Bledsoe began playing the saxophone around age 11, inspired by his uncle, a self-taught saxophonist. Hard work and countless hours of study paid off. Before the age of 21, Bledsoe had established himself as young professional playing stages across the United States and over 6 countries in Europe. Manzell received a degree in Jazz Studies/Performance from the prestigious University of North Texas jazz program in 2012 and currently resides in Tampa, Florida where he performs, composes and teaches. |
Jeff Wooldridge - trumpet, flugelhorn
Jeff is a Tampa, Florida native. He began playing trumpet at the age of twelve and quickly fell in love with jazz and commercial music. Jeff has performed with artists like: The Four Tops, Byron Stripling, Bobby Floyd, Tom Braxton, Greta Matassa, Carmen Bradford, Darryl Williams, Bobby Sparks, Dave Brubeck, Chic Corea, Bob Hope, Marilyn McCoo, Carl Anderson, Harry Connick Sr., Cab Calloway, Keith Anderson and Mario Cruz to name a few. Jeff has performed in broadway musicals, is a studio session player, and has released several solo albums. Jeff spent eight years in Dallas, Texas playing lead trumpet with nationally known Emerald City Band. In 2013, Jeff moved back to his home state of Florida where he can be found performing as the lead trumpet player in bands all over the state. |
Chris "Crash" Clifton - trombone
Chris was born and raised in Toronto, Canada where he attended Humber College for music. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1986. He has worked with a long and diverse roster of internationally renowned artists such as Natalie Cole, Ray Charles and Luciano Pavarotti. For the last 30 years he has been playing trombone at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. He continues to be very active in the jazz and freelance scene in the Tampa Bay area. |
